Technology & Healthcare - Some Factors to Consider

While doing research, I am learning to consider more factors affecting the need and uses of new technology. I would like to share some examples. Have you considered:

*** Immigration - and the fact that immigration will open up all kinds of needs for technology and healthcare information. The fact that diverse populations will bring different diseases and alternative treatments to be explored.

*** Societal changes - the fact that a new demand for mobile healthare will be spawned as our society changes. The newer generations will be used to getting healthcare on the run, making the need for information at provider's fingertips indespensible.

*** Distance Learning - An aspect that deals with the healthcare workers directly not just patients. This technology will be affecting how nurses and others learn new topics, maintaine CE credits and teach future prospects to our profession.

*** Nursing Programs - Technology will affect education. Schools will need to implement more programs designed to educate healthcare staff via new technological boulevards, even at the vocational level.

You bring up many great issues with technology and healthcare! Especially with immigration. It is so true that with many diverse populations and cultures, the use of modern technology within healthcare will greatly impact many barriers inclluding language. This will afford the patients to use an interpreter to give a complete medical history, which can be followed with them each and every time they go to follow up appointments.

Nursing informatics is the way of the future, and will hopefully only keep getting better and improving!
